WILLIAM M. ALTMAN RECEIVES AWARD OF SPECIAL MERIT FROM FEDERATION OF AMERICAN HOSPITALSLouisville, KY (March 20, 2008) – Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE:KND) today announced that the Federation of American Hospitals (“FAH”) has presented its Award of Special Merit to William M. Altman, the Company’s Senior Vice President, Strategy and Public Policy. Mr. Altman also serves as President of the Acute Long Term Hospital Association, an association representing over two-thirds of long-term acute care hospitals nationwide. The FAH’s mission is to represent the investor-owned hospital community before the decision makers of government, business, labor, and society in general; to foster the public good through the creation and delivery of quality healthcare for all people; and to support the efforts of its members in expanding their ever increasing roles and responsibilities in meeting community health needs.
